States that allow medical marijuana typically require patients to be registered with the state and have a valid recommendation from a doctor. Most states require that patients renew their recommendation annually. A state-by-state summary[1] of marijuana laws is available through the National Conference of State Legislatures.
Typical costs:
States allowing medical marijuana cards require doctor's written statements recommending usage. In many cases, doctor recommendations can be obtained from a patient's primary care physician for the cost of a regular office visit.
Some states have clinics that solely provide medical marijuana recommendations. Generally, first-time appointments in the clinics cost $80-$200. For example, San Jose Evaluations[2] in California provides recommendations for $59-$69 for patients. The Arizona Cannabis Physician's Group charges $150 for new patient recommendations.
Some states require registration with a state-maintained registry of medical marijuana patients; other states make it optional. For example, Colorado[3] currently charges $35 for registration; Rhode Island[4] charges $75. Typically, states charge $35-$200 for registration.
A visit with a physician should include a discussion of medical history. (Most states require a physician to certify a serious medical condition.) The doctor should provide paperwork to the patient certifying a serious condition and the recommendation to use medical marijuana.
If a state requires registration, a patient should expect to receive the state-issued ID card.
Additional costs:
Most states require annual renewals of medical marijuana cards, though some states allow renewals every two years. Renewing a recommendation through a medical clinic typically is $20-$50 less than the original recommendation.

New patient. I was charged $299 for the consultation and to see the doctor. Card is $75. Paid up until 4/2022. Very nice family business and amazing staff.
299.00 for doctor which included the 7 month prescription. I’ve had my card for over a year now and this is the cheapest place I found. 149.99 to renew your prescription. Doctor did everything through telehealth and was very kind
We went to a dispensary referred doctor. We paid 99.00 to see the doctor, with proof of our disability from the primary care doctor. Basically you have to have proof of your disability. And they actually offered the service to register me with the state. Waited 24 hours for the doctor to send his findings to the state..And printed ID from state web site. You must have a valid Colorado DL or ID and proof of residencey to get a Colorado Medical Marijuana Licence.

I spoke to John through email who got me all the forms I needed for my doctors. When I got to my appointment Stephanie and John both helped me get all my forms in order. I saw the doctor who was very kind. I was told what I was approved for and the next steps were explained to me.
Valerie said I had to give her cash and she had never been denied. I hAve sever PTSD and she took advantage of my need for help. I paid her cash like she asked and was denied and she won't fill my other prescriptions. She doesn't care about patients just her 250 cash.
